A Little Boy In The Right Seat
A young man was searching the web, with sincerity but glee,
He was looking for the perfect car, to join his family.
At last he had found it, the perfect one,
From a Swedish company, the Koenigsegg One:1.
He showed it to his family, he showed it to his friends,
He even showed it to strangers, and to other wealthy businessmen.
One day he met a girl his age, beautiful and sweet,
He took her someplace nice, to grab a bite to eat.
The One:1 watched through the window, with pride and curiosity,
Could this, it thought, be my new family?
A few months later, with joy and with pride,
The young man proposed to her, to become his bride.
With a joyful yes then, and much later, at his childhood church, “I do,”
The One:1’s predictions, soon became true.
They decided to have a child, and told their friends with joy,
A few months later, they were going to have a boy.
The months soon passed, and his wife went into labor,
But living 12 miles out of town, the One:1 was the only car to hope for.
He carried her in his arms, to the long awaiting car,
Using the app on his phone, to open the scissor-doors.
Sliding into the driver’s seat, he turned on the beast,
About to become a father, he was thrilled to say the least.
He joyfully looked over at his wife, in agony as one could tell,
But when he looked into her eyes, as he had done many times before,
He soon began to see, that she wasn’t doing well.
He dropped it into first, reving it to 8,000 rpm,
The acceleration was incredible, completely surprising them.
This the One:1 thought is what I was born for.
With jaw-dropping speed, and and a V8 roar,
What was once a ten minute trip, was cut down to four.
With the registration papers signed, and the couple settled down in their room,
The young man recalls upon the day, that he became her groom.
He sat down beside her, holding her hand,
“I love you,” she said, “more than you could ever imagine.”
As he returned his affection, he stroked her hair that was beautiful and long,
But during the final moments of birth, she turned and said “Something’s wrong.”
Her heart rate quickened, and her face turned maroon,
As the nurses ushered him out, with a faint smile, she said
“Don’t worry, Sweetheart. I’ll see you soon.”
Out in the waiting room, with the minutes seeming like hours,
The Young Man started to cry, as he thought of his wedding flowers.
The Doctor came with a blanket wrapped infant, and said with sadness in his eyes,
“Your Son is in perfect health, but unfortunately...your Wife...did not survive.”
The Young Man sat down and held his child, the tears rolling down his cheek,
Little eyes looked up at him, wondering where his mother could be.
The Young Man got in the One:1, continuing to weep,
A little boy in the right seat, was fast asleep.
As the Young Man placed the child in his crib, he soon began to realize,
He wouldn’t have a purpose to live, if his son wasn’t still alive.
As the years passed by, the Young Man watched his son grow up,
He loved him with all of his heart, and his son never loved him enough.
One day after his son had graduated college, who now owned One:1,
In a different car the Man pulled forward at a green light, not knowing what was to come.
An eighteen-wheeler ran a red light, the car he didn’t see,
It crushed the Man’s car like a soda-can, killing him instantly.
His Son treasured the One:1, as it held his father’s memory,
His Wife treasured the One:1 too, as if it were family.
A few weeks later, the Young Man got into the One:1 with his app,
A little boy in the right seat, was fast asleep,
But this time, was sleeping on his Mother’s lap.

The car featured in this poem, the Koenigsegg One:1, is my favorite car. Everyone I've talked about it with says it's impractical, when practicality is one of the company's core principals. I wanted to create a unique poem that features my favorite car, showcasing it's practicality, and also show what could've happened when my little brother was born. He and my mother could very well not be standing here today, as the doctors discovered a brain tumor in my mother two weeks before he was due. She could've either waited until natural birth to have brain surgery and further endanger the life of my brother, or have induced birth two weeks early and have brain surgery right then. I am blessed to have both of them and wouldn't trade them for the world.
