From the Deceived Future Generations
I suppose you could have told me
That the sky wouldn't shine anymore
Because of how we made it cry
With our toxic gases and acids.
I suppose you could have told me
That the animals weren't just leaving
Because they were migrating,
But because they were dying.
I suppose you could have told me
Why ignorance was allowed
To grow like a weed in a garden
While destroying the real beauty.
I suppose you could have told me
How to stop the outbreak of greed
Before it morphed into madness
And turned us against each other.
I suppose you could have told me
Why you lied for the sake
Of your obsession with world unity
When you destroyed it in the first place.
I suppose you could have told me
Who's fault it really was
That the world died too young
Without being able to say goodbye.
