Sleep, Sleep, Sleep
The sun has set, and the moon commands
Sleep,
Sleep,
Sleep,
But sleep has not yet come.
Darkness fills the silence, and whispers
Sleep,
Sleep,
Sleep,
But my mind pounds like a drum.
Wind glides gently over water, calling softly
Sleep,
Sleep,
Sleep,
Yet still I lie here restless and awake.
Shadows emerge from hiding, telling me
Sleep,
Sleep,
Sleep,
Yet their advice I can't seem to take.
The street lamps light with a flicker, saying
Sleep,
Sleep,
Sleep,
But I toss and turn as if with a fever.
The constellations Orion and Big Dipper sing
Sleep,
Sleep,
Sleep,
But I really can't listen to either.
The planets change position in the sky, soothing
Sleep,
Sleep,
Sleep,
But my mind likes to play and have fun.
The fading stars try to stay alive, and urge
Sleep,
Sleep,
Sleep,
But it's too late; here comes the sun.
