I am from pencils, from crayola and rosart
I am from the lake in my grandprents backyard
I am fromthe smell of jasmine flowers
I am from after midnight tea and blonde hair, from Niman and Khaled Shukairy
I am from doctors and businessmen
from don't yell! and say hello
I am from covering up from head to toe
I'm from America and Syria, grape leaves and lasgna
from the burn my grandmother got on her hand, and the hand my uncle broke on a motorcycle
I am from my mother and grandmothers closets, where we keep all the family albums
