The Whispers
patpitterpatter,
says the rain when it’s scared
and your shoes sink in with a
squisquashquish
and the trees rush past
swoooswishwoosh
like an owl, humming a
hooahowahoo
and the bees that buzz, a
bizzlebuzzlebiz
when your heart flutters,
bitabatabitabata
as your feet hit the pavement,
and then you are alive, unthinking, feeling
with a million tingling nerve endings
shooting from your fingertips.
this is when you sense and hear
the delirium rushing underneath our skins,
a torrent, of storming
never ceasing whispers
echoing just beyond my ears and yours.
