Dear World
Dear World,
What did I do to deserve this life?
What have I done that is so wrong?
Did I do something in another life
That I can't do anything about?
Dear World,
Look at what humanity has done to you.
We've taken every bit of beauty
And destroyed it,
Ruining it for our future children.
Dear World,
We're not all bad.
Some want to see beauty and love and life,
And see the fallen stars
Brought back to live in the darkening sky.
Dear World,
Was there ever a time without pain?
Was there ever a yearning to live?
If so, where has that gone?
And how do people become this way?
Dear World,
I had a dream. Well, not really.
I simply closed my eyes.
I saw a beautiful world without scars.
Where has that world gone?
Dear World,
Please don't end just yet.
Give people like me a chance
To bring back the world I saw;
The one behind my closed eyes.
Dear World,
Don't give up; hold on.
Stay strong and hang in there.
If simple humans have lasted until now,
Then you can too.
Dear World,
Don't ever lose hope.
