Up or Down?

Falling down
I do not see myself
Climbing back up

Plummeting into a deep dark empty pit
I can not see myself
At the peak where fiery light sparks from the horizon in a sky overwhelmed with colors

Standing tall like a redwood tree, bold and brave
Is far from where I am. I am
A dead leaf, only needing to fall on soft soil to disintegrate and drift into the wind

Choose to give up
Someday I will be on the brink of survival and crawl just to keep going. I cannot
Continue on my path and face all obstacles

Wanting to quit
I can not find myself
Having the strength to pull myself back up

The strong gravity
Cannot be overcome. I can persevere through
Nothing

Slipping in a downward spiral
I am not
Fighting the tumbling rocks and raging waterfalls

Look back at past failures and regrets
Don’t ever
Envision a bright future and work towards the light

Choose to live with the fact that I am giving up on a dream
I cannot
Live through the twigs piercing my skin and the rocks digging into my flesh

Giving up
I am not
Climbing up

(Read from the bottom up, each line beginning with a capital)
