All is Well
Close your eyes
And breathe it in
The sweetness of oblivion --
Two thumb-strokes, a match
One gasp
And a long exhale.
Close your eyes
And let it out
The toxic air, a self-inflicted poison
And all that pent-up anger
At the world you'll one day inherit.
Let it out, then lean back and smile.
Forget it all,
Soak in the ocean at high tide
Drown in blue skies and sunrise
Take your conscience
And throw it to the wind.
No - close your eyes
And listen closely
To rumblings of a darker nature
Undercover murmurings
Men in suits
Deciding the fate of two cities, and the world.
Seven planes, flying parallel
One mission: save the world
Or end it...
There! On the horizon--
A flash, and then it disappears.
Just a moment's notice
No time to shield your eyes
Open them, quick-
Your city is in flames,
So save it.
Close your eyes
And picture this:
A home, gone up in smoke
A child, who fears nothing but death
And blue skies
A man on the ground
And an officer, with a club.
Children crying out in masses
Small hands stretching,
Begging for food
Two towers crumbling
A handful of lies, falling bombs
And a nation at war.
So, close your eyes
And drown it out
Rebel, revel in youthful nonchalance
All is well
When the world is nothing
But the inside of your eyelids.
Stay here, listen to the ocean,
Wind in hair, cigarette in hand--
Where nothing matters
Except the rhythm of waves
Beneath your feet.

I think this is poem about delusion, and the ways we like to overlook the truth.
