A Kiss of a Kindred Stranger
She's gone, yet she's here,
There is a vacancy inside.
A cage that has lost its bird.
With each second a memory fades,
into oblivion, never to be remembered.
She is a hollowed shell,
Shadow of the person who once lived.
She asks “Where is the sidewalk?”
She tells again and again
the tale of abandonment.
These aren't her stories,
they are remnants.
It's somebody else's family on the wall,
Sombody else's life, but also hers.
“Who is that?” Who is that?”
Her abysmal eyes take in everything,
in a blink everything flies away into the fog.
“Who am I? Who s that?”
Forgetfulness, but not as kind.
No way to regain what was lost.
A clock that has regressed,
hands spinning back forever,
unable to move forward.
Time has come to leave,
A soft kiss on a cold fragile cheek.
“Oh, that's nice. Thank you.”
A kiss from a kindred stranger.
