The Arm of Time
A pale old arm reaches out from the depths of the universe. Its gnarled fingers change a young boy into a bright young teenager, a bright young teenager into a strong man, a strong man into a wise adult, a wise adult into a frail senior. Then the ancient fingers reach from the heavens and with an emotionless yank, the life is pried from the old man. The fingers have better plans for this life. The fingers expertly inject the old man’s life into a newborn child and the cycle begins again.

I want readers to take notice of how the arm is not attached to a "being" of any kind. The arm isn't God, because there is no God. The arm is a machine, it doesn't think; it just does.
