Symptoms of Desire
Desire is a universal hunger,
A great ache in the heart
Blocking out sensibility.
It comes upon a silver platter,
Dressed with the most
Luxurious offerings -
Only to be pulled away,
Just before one can grasp
The imposing treasure.
And so one is left,
In search of the pearl;
Yearning for elucidation.
This devotion
Is neither satisfying,
Nor is it vile.
Yet given the chance,
Would you take this appetite
Over indifference?
