Are you really just a freshman?
You asks me
Your gaze falling below my neck
And I'm pretty sure your not staring
At my nerdy French horn necklace

Your question brings
The butterflies in my stomach
To life
And makes adrenaline
Pump through my veins

But these new butterflies
Have spikes on their wings
And are going to leave scars
The adrenaline turns my blood
To ice
And my hands shake

I can't get you out of my head
And I can barely breathe
When I'm around you

This is not love
This is fear

I think to myself
Are you really just a senior?
Or are you a horny teenager
Trying to replace your bruised and battered heart
With one untouched and intact
Belonging to me

You are almost a legal adult
And I am almost young enough
To order off of kids menus
And your interest in me
Does not seem genuine
Due to the fact we have talked twice
And you got dumped
Only weeks ago

I never have been used before
But from what I've heard
From pop songs
It isn't fun

So to a answer your question
No
I am not just a freshman
I am a girl who may still be
awkward and innocent
But I am not stupid
I'm not falling for this trick
Seniority doesn't apply in love
I am holding onto my heart
With an iron grip
And am not going to let you near it

So kindly,
Get your eyes off my boobs
And go flirt with someone your own age
