As I trudge along the long dirt road,
Kicking rocks and sliding my feet in the dirt,
I think to myself;
Of all the things I've been though,
What has been the worst ?

Everyday since I can remember my family has fought.
All the time, everyday.
One day, just a normal day,
I was called worthless.
The pain burnt into my flesh,
As if a branding iron was upon it.
My eyes grew tired and weak.
They begged.to close for the last time.
My heart was sunken below the deepest ocean.
My soul was crushed under the heaviest building.
In the pain I found nothing.
Nothing but darkness.

Through the pain I got.
Through the hurt I prospered.
I found happiness,
Even if it was only for a moment.

I turned into my old town.
My heart raced for I was the happiest human alive.
The anticipation was eating me alive.
Weeks I had waited for this glorious moment.
My smile was genuine.
My happiness, pure.
I had never felt so glad to be alive in my life.

I continue down this dusty old dirty road.
Thinking of the haunting memories that cling to my mind,
And enjoying those that touch my heart.
And I'll do so until the dirt road ends.
