Red Riding Hood Re-told
Once,
a gorgeous young girl was born.
The townspeople marveled in her beauty
yet her smile was nowhere to be seen.
Suddenly she began thrashing like a madwoman,
her arms flailing in all directions.
Bright red blood spilled onto her white blanket and
Little Red came to be.
The townspeople fled, claiming that they were among
the Devil and urged Red’s grandmother to come with them.
She took one last look at her granddaughter and said:
When the sun shines again I will return, but until then, I bid farewell.
Days morphed into years, and all hope
seemed lost until one day a frog appeared.
“Find your grandmother and bring her a basket of goodies,” he croaked before
hopping off into the forest.
Without hesitation she grabbed a basket and
ran into the forest. Breathtaken by its beauty,
she sang and danced with joy, which caught the
attention of an evil wolf.
“I will help you find your grandmother,” he told the naïve little girl.
Together, they made their way to her grandmother’s house,
but the wolf had other plans in mind.
As her grandmother ran out to greet Red, the wolf
lunged at her.
Without thinking twice, Red swung her basket
as her grandmother swung her cane,
attempting to hit the deranged wolf,
but he jumped out of the way.
The little girl and the old woman
clobbered each other simultaneously,
and they dropped like flies,
allowing the clever wolf to feast like a king.
