the girl with the long hair
Trapped between concrete walls
With nothing but my own company
And even that’s wearing thin
My pale, pasty, porcelain skin
Growing sicker
Beneath the sun I once ran under,
Sectioned by someone I once called mother,
My life behind a steel barred window-
Morning and evening replaying the same song,
From the floor below a cackle is heard-
“Rapunzel let down your hair”
Only a spider climbs up
Weaving a web of gold hair to grey
Sucking my blue eyes hollow,
Only dreaming of freedom,
Only one way to achieve it,
A life behind bars is no life at all
I will know heaven when I see it
With the rope of fading gold
Wrapped around my neck
My feet way above the grass
Killed by my own beauty.
