At First There Was Nothing, And Then There Was Light
Light and dark, like Yin and Yang,
swish, swirl, back and forth.
Completely separate entities,
Existing, not one without the other.
Two sides of the same coin.
How closely they are intertwined, like heaven and hell.
Angels and demons, both the same, one fallen and one flying
Like stars, some shine, while others fall.
Any light, no matter how small,
Screams through the darkness.
Ascending, animating the darkness,
Brighter and lighter,
Like millions of fireflies illuminating the night.
Touching the sky with delicate, luminescent fingers.
Light, a hand reaching out through the night,
From the cold, hard floor beneath me, I’ve only just begun.
I rise from my addiction, my loneliness, my struggles, my demons,
Into the Light of a new day, a new chapter, a new happiness
A new recovery.
