Lasting Impressions
Friends are pebbles,
and I am the undisturbed pond.
They are tossed into my life
and ripple my waters.
My image becomes obscured,
as they sink deeper
uncovering what lies at the very bottom,
and burrowing into the sand
of my memory and heart.
What impression is left hardly matters,
because gradually I become tranquil once more,
but the reflection of me
is not the same as the one before.
