Suffering
Is not beautiful.

When did
Depression
Anxiety
Eating Disorders
Become lovely things to be?

When did
Suicidal thoughts
Become normal?
Acceptable?

Suffering
Is not beautiful.

When did the
Depressed
Become glorious?

When did the
Anxious
Become accepted?

When did the
Anorexic
Or
Bulimic
Become envied?

When did this become okay?

Suffering
Is not beautiful.

Why is it more
Acceptable
In our society to
Hate
Ourselves
Than to
Love ourselves?

Why is it
Popular
To take a blade to your skin
When your life decides to
Challenge you?

When did
Blood
Become the drug
Of our generation?

Suffering
Is not beautiful.

Suffering
Is not fun.

It is not to be envied.
It is not lovely.
It is not respectable.
It is not acceptable.

It is not,
It has never been,
Nor will it ever be
Beautiful.

Suffering is not beautiful.

Thank you so much! I've been through it too, and I know so many people who fake it. None of them understand what exactly it means to suffer, and every time I hear of someone playing the "suffering" card for attention, it makes me sick. I had to put it into words.

This is powerful, brynmorgan, thank you so much for sharing it. I can really relate to a lot of it. Not that I idolize any of those things, but I went through it. It discusts me when people talk about it like its the weather or something. Its a serious topic really. Your poem was beautifuly written, perfectly capturing this. Thank you again for sharing, and keep writing, love :)
