Personal Metaphor
I follow the light
always looking for the good in the world.
Slowly I grow,
taking my time.
Strong roots hold me down,
stable I flow in the wind.
Only when I’m fully nourished
I open up to those around me.
I am vulnerable.
I let the rays in,
weaving my way around
as I find the right path to the light.
I grow tall and strong,
even though the other flowers
grow rapidly past me,
I take my sweet time.
Bright and sunny,
I always keep my head up.
As the wind hits me,
I continue to stand
with confidence.
