A Simple Truth
oh, tell me a simple truth.
one that has been overlooked
by even the masterminds
of the past millenium.
look me in the eyes,
darling, i am not blind;
i know there is a secret
bringing discomfort to your spine.
we are drowning in uncertainty,
and suffocating on unanswered questions.
lost on the island of confusion
and mistaken in roles of the hunt.
oh, let me tell you the simple truth;
there is nothing right here.
our paths cannot be crossed
and our questions will forever be left unanswered.
we are no longer the hunters;
but the hunted, in fact.
our soals have been worn.
our hearts have been torn.
i promise you this was the plan.
cold and confused
in the jungle at night,
we search with the stars
as our guide is the light.
and the devil himself
could rise, firey and red,
but we would not be frightened
for we see him again.
as before when we lost
to the devil's glare,
we know his tricks now,
we anticipate our nightmares.
and as expected, they come true;
we fall to the sand
and he walks away,
satisfied with his victory once again.
