Smartass Mountain MAG
The view is great, but there's
No one to share it with, so instead
I sit in the gelatinous silence
And consider how the wind is
Worrying my hair and my head
Into a tangled knot. Then
You trudge up the hill to
Cuff me on the shoulder and
Roar with laughter louder than
The wind at the waves that whisper
(smartass) (teacher's pet) (good girl)
Until I'm snickering too and
The mountains are far more
Ancient than I.
We sit together on my heap
Of gold stars until the lapping water
Gives up and retreats
In search of another hill.
