I am…
I am timid and wistful
I wonder why I am trapped on this land when others
get to fly and experience the beauty of the sky
I hear the wind whispering in my ears, taunting me
I see the baby birds taking flight
I want to join them, yet
I am timid and wistful
I pretend I am someone else
I feel the sun, hot on my hair, holding me still
I touch the edges of the box that I am confined to
I worry I will never grow out of this
I cry out, yet I am untouched by the pain of the real world
I am timid and wistful
I don't understand who I am
I say to follow your dreams
I dream of finding hope
I try to believe in myself
I hope that I will find the key to my heart
I am timid and wistful
