We all have lives to live,
People to meet,
Places to see,
Things to do.

Every day is a routine:
We get up
We get ready
And we do what must be done.

We put on our helmets,
Our hats,
Our suits and shoes.

We stick on a smile,
A look of concern,
We play every con,
Every trick in the book.

By the time we’re done
Nothing left is
Sacred
Holy
Or fun.

But we keep on living,
Every hour,
Every day,
Contending with our past,
Paying for each second
We dared to make a mistake.
WE are not perfect, it’s true.

But neither are you.

So who’s to judge,
Black from blue.
