Like Breathing
I don’t know what it’s like
to be kissed,
but I've heard it’s like
fireworks or
sparks.
I've seen the movies
where they stand
in the rain
soaked to the
bone.
And that perfect moment,
when the girl’s leg
arches backwards
off the ground-
bumble gum sweet.
Or when both people
are desperate,
hungry,
and the passion of the kiss
is unparalleled.
Even the “realistic” descriptions
where his lips are so
soft,
and she can feel his heart
beating alongside hers.
That’s not
what I want.
I hope mine’s slow
and natural
like breathing.
A thought
that comes slowly,
or quickly,
but never rushed,
and is easily replicated.
I don’t want a kiss
that is life changing
-life stuttering.
I want a kiss
that is true and easy and real.
