God's Gardener
I remember the flowers
and the pretty green garden
that made me believe in God.
I was alone, lost
and then SHE found me
and took me in.
The little old woman
who had said
“Count your blessings
with every flower
that He made.”
So I did.
During that wonderful summer
with the little old woman
and her garden of God
that made me feel special again.
Now I cannot reach her
the little old woman
and her garden of God.
But her mind left long ago
even before her heart stopped beating.
So here I am
in her garden
sitting alone
just me and the flowers.
And then
a girl walks by.
She stares at me a while
and inches closer.
And I swear
she looks exactly like HER
from the pictures I’ve seen
in dusty boxes
of colorless 4” by 6”s.
So I say
just like SHE said to me
that beautiful summer:
“Always remember.
Count your blessings
with every flower
that He made.”
The message I carried
I shall now give
Of loving kindness
and
And through this lesson
she lives on.
The little old woman
and her garden of God.
