Goodbye to a Red Rose
Jokes and light laughter
we started off.
Introductions and names we learned.
Those warm summer days
we blossomed to our full.
Each passing sun and moon
we grew together.
Hopes and dreams,
scarring pasts,
all this we shared.
We found hope and life
in each other.
Together we were blissful.
No need for anybody else.
Yet this was to change
when I was picked and potted
away from you my red rose.
Petals and leaves reached for the other.
Yet your thorns stabbed at me as well.
Grasping for each other
is how we lost.
Goodbye to my red rose I mourned.
And like that we withered in the fall.
