On Top of the World
I fly to the top of the world.
Soaring up past the trees and the mountains.
I fly to the top of a tree at the top of a mountain on top of the world.
I fly to the highest branch of a tree that sits on top of a mountain on top of the world.
Grasping to it with my talons.
Peering out across the vast land that awaits my being.
The branch snaps,
I fall off the branch that was on the top of the tree on top of the mountain on top of the world.
I fall,
free falling off of the tree on top of the mountain on top of the world.
I try to catch myself grabbing with my talons.
But I tumble,
From the highest mountain on top of the world.
I tumble,
Past the hills and the forests,
Into the lowest crevice at the lowest point in the world.
And so begins I begin to climb out of the crevice at the lowest point in the world.
I make my way past the forests and the hills,
I soar up onto the highest branch on top of the tree
On top of the mountain
On top of the world.
I'm on top of the world.
