Before I give up on life and pull the trigger, remind me…
That there are more atoms in my eye than stars in the galaxy
That nothing is concrete
Remind me of the power of Bach, Beethoven and Mozart
Who soothe the ache of a raging soul
And of the vast sky of endless stars
Which minimize all problems and worries
The freeing power of a run through the woods
Which brings with it the feeling of absolute invincibility
The welcome of the sunrise
Which wakes the land with a gentle touch
The farewell of a sunset
Whose fading light kisses the earth with tenderness
The touch of a lover
Which wipes any thought from the mind
The ideas of philosophers past
Who open the mind to a new understanding
The rhymes of poets and authors
Which enrich the soul with beauty
The embrace of a friend
Which acts as a shelter against vicious negativity
The luscious taste of a strawberry
Awakening the joy of simple pleasures
The turmoil of a thunderstorm
Leading to dancing in wet clothes
The care of protective guardians
With a love so strong encompassing their children
The effortless bubbles of champagne
Which transform strangers into friends
The warmth of a secure bed
A sanctuary against all evils
The nervous laughter of two friends
On the cusp of becoming something more
The silence of the night
Nature’s own version of meditation
The voice of a beloved singer
Which guarantees the existence of angels
The sweet release of tension
Which comes from being accepted
The smile on my face
Which warms the heart of those close to me
Remind me
Remind me
Before I pull the trigger
