The Struggle Is Over
It took a long time for her to find the person who she didn’t need to fix to love.
Someone who wasn’t someone else’s broken toy.
But, she found not one but,
two.
She found a guy who made her smile,
who hugged and held her like he wanted nothing more than
to be in that moment with her.
A guy who loved all of her silly thoughts
and tried so hard to be the man that he claims
she deserves.
She also had the privilege to find a guy
who was the other half of her soul.
The guy who made bad jokes about smart things and
said he’d die if she did.
The one who cared if she looked off in class
and checked on her before bed to make sure she was still here.
Her best friend.
She thought she would be no where without him.
Then, he gave up on her.
That tore her up inside and left her to rot away.
Or so she thought.
The boy who used to just try to be the man she deserves is now the man who fixed her.
She had found a man to carry her through the hard times
and a man who helped her forget the ways that she has been wronged.
Now she sees that the first man was both men all along.
Her love and her friend.
He used to worry when she danced at the edge,
ready to go to drastic measures just to “heal”.
He checks her arms for cuts and kisses her wrists carefully.
He has fixed her so well that she believes that she is
precious.
