Can You Hear Me?
Everyone has heard that old saying,
"If a tree falls in a forest,
And no one is there to hear it,
Does it make a sound?'
And I never really thought
About what that entailed
Because I'd always had someone in that forest
Who would hear,
And would come searching for me.
But now you've left,
And that someone isn't listening
For the splitting of wood any longer.
So if I break,
And you're not there to hear me,
Do I make a sound?
