I love writing. I love the swirl and swing of words as they tangle with human emotions. - James Michener

I wish that I could swing again,
and run barefoot in the grass.
On warm nights, leave my window open;
and listen to the rain splat.

I want the bright and lovely flowers,
and the birds to come back North.
I wish that summer never ended,
Not even for a moment.

Fall is brilliant, but only for a while.
Then Winter comes in with a vengeance,
killing all that's beautiful and green.
Spring is muddy and cheerless.

I love the warmth and the freedom,
That only summer months can bring.
I wish that summer never ended,
Not even for a moment.

It Can Only Fly When It Needs To.

Lovely poem! Everything flowed perfectly when I read it, however when you used the word “splat” it seemed to stand out more than the lines, it made the poem feel as if it didn't flow for that moment. I suggest you to use another word that can replace it that sounds less harsh. Other than that, great poem!
