A Soul Lost
Screaming at the top of my lungs
and no one seems to hear a thing.
No one looks up.
I'm standing in a pool of water.
Move forward and it rises.
Drowning me and my desire for the
green light.
Dip down for a drink
and the liquid recedes.
Trapped in a stasis between salvation and hell.
There is no happy ending.
There is only my ending.
Be it happy or sad.
Glad or mad.
It is my own.
My past, my present and my future.
A long chronology of random events leading to
God knows where.
Anywhere is better than here,
A crying, broken girl in the middle of a square and
No one looks up.
No one notices.
No one cares.
No one knows.
A world of ignorance
Blissful oblivion.
And yet you can't bring yourself to give a damn
Because there is nothing to be said.
I used to say though a battle is lost.
A war still rages on,
but there's nothing to fight anymore.
It just doesn't matter.
It's not worth it like it used to be.
Nothing's the same,
yet nothing's changed.
A story of strife long forgotten
in a sea of smiling faces
and cruel intentions.
False pretenses.
Smiles that mean less,
because nothing can hide the mess.
It is what it is.
You're everything you never wanted to be.
Lost, worthless, meaningless.
A book of memories not worth revisiting.
Pages and pages burnt at the corners
and ripped at their bindings.
Another soul dropped at the end of the Earth,
backpedalled far from that hallowing light.
Nothing's the same
and nothing's changed.
Everything that mattered doesn't anymore,
and you wonder if that smiling girl with baby cheeks and soft feet
will ever be seen again.
Because despite the pain.
Maybe her spirit can be regained.
