Do Not
Do not tell a boy you are sad,
He will not want to be your hero,
Instead, he’ll run away to the safety of sanity,
Leaving you to battle the sadness that clouds your mind
alone.
Do not tell a boy you cry,
“Over dramatic,” he’ll scoff, “You’re fine”,
Then he’ll continue running his toxic lips over your skin,
And you’ll close your eyes to stop them from seeing
how little he truly cares.
Do not tell a boy about your insecurities,
“Baby you’re perfect,” he’ll lie,
You’ll shake your head when you see the insincerity
in his eyes,
But You won’t bring it up again.
Do not tell a boy you cut,
He will not kiss your scars,
He will not hold you,
He will not care.
Do not let loose lips spill your secrets in a bar
downtown at midnight in a drunken slur
and expect a boy to save you from yourself.
He will not want to know you,
He will not help you,
He will not care.
Get over it.
