duetto
we are but a stone’s throw
from each other, our words
filling the void between us.
the light is faint, but it is a
priceless comfort, as i feel
the empty space expand
until it threatens to blind me.
i wonder how long you will
take to extend your hand
forward until it meets mine;
but i will not ask too much
because i know the light
cannot leave us when we
have only just discovered
sight
