The Edge

The mossy earth spills out over the expansive precipice, a waterfall of land and stone.
It runs down the forsaken path, dropping off the edge like a soul dropping off the world.
I kneel before this great expanse and weep my sorrowful tears that flow like endless rivers.
I am consumed, a path mercilessly eaten alive by the earth around it.
I cannot continue. I mustn't continue.
To take such a jump will mean taking a fall.
I have travelled long and far, only to be stopped in my tracks.
I cannot continue.
I cannot take the fall.
