Don't Take His Poison
I never want to see you cringe
Or cower in a corner
In some place where you seem doomed.
I never want to see you go
Your spirit shattered
Your sanity whisked away.
Don’t bite the hand that feeds you,
Yet don’t take food from that which beats you.
Stare you captor in the face,
Show him you are not afraid.
Challenge his authority
Over your fate.
Stay resilient, my child.
Someone is going to hate you
For living out your beliefs.
Don’t take his poison, my son
And he’ll never get the better of you.
