"I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity" - Edgar Allen Poe

I am the constant companion

Of Pallas, the Wise Goddess

I am an embodiment of her wisdom

The silent, nocturnal, bug-eyed bird of prey

I am the noiseless predator

Who preys upon the voles and rats

I am the bird with searching eyes

That see all things within the night

I am the taloned menace

Swooping and gliding through the inky night

I am the creature that strikes fear in the hearts of many

Of the little beasts that are my prey

I am the ancient owl

To whom it is told, some go for advice

I am that wise old bird often deemed oracle

That none wish to anger or offend
