"I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity" - Edgar Allen Poe

My long, curved neck

Covered with pristine, sleek feathers

Each feather gently coated with a layer of oil

I am the picture of elegance

My strong, outspread wings

Flapping to lift me from the murky, wat’ry dell

Leaving only ripples upon the mirrored surface

I rise with elegance

My curved, beautiful beak

From which no sound shall ever issue forth

A silent avian, a quiet sovereign of the sky

I roam with elegance

My dark, deep eyes

Whose gaze pervades my peaceful realm

The realm of this swan is benign

And I am the essence of elegance
