Not all that is gold glitters; not all those who wander are lost.

How could I know, and
how could I choose? Oh,
but how could I think
I had nothing to lose?

I'm stuck in it now, and
I know it's too late.
I always wish not to,
but I fall for the bait.

Now don't get me wrong,
this isn't self-pity.
I just wish to be different,
to be cute, smart, or witty.

It goes deeper than that,
though, like I know all girls'
dreams do.

The secrets we keep, and
the ones that we say-
they all come together,
to be what they may.

And every flaw, every
thing that we hate,
(you know, that huge pimple,
or the nonexistent date)

They are what they are,
and we are who we choose.
After all, beauty is inside-
and I think that's great news!

As I think of my failures,
(I can admit they are that),
I don't know where I'm going,
but I know where I'm at.

And though I'm not perfect,
I may never be,
I'm just glad to be writing,
and proud to be me!

Although this poem is aimed mainly for girls, I hope every person realizes how great they are, and how much God loves them, despite the flaws!
