Our Loveless Mistake

We were loveless for eighteen months.
Unbeknownst to us that our kisses,
Lacking in passion, were dooming us
To a life of shamefully avoiding the truth.
Carefully, we tried to test the waters.
But, carelessly, we began to feel.
We were so young and so scared,
And a world with each other was
A world too big for us.
Now, I teach myself to hate you
And you taught yourself to feel nothing.
This is the only way to move forward.
