Parents or Love
Tears run down her face.
Her mouth opens, but no words come out.
Her door is locked and her lights are off.
All she hears is yelling downstairs.
Her phone blows up with texts.
Her hand, her legs, her body, shakes.
Then her life froze
Her breathing gets heavy and her mind spins with thoughts:
I should have listened to my parents;
He’s no good for me;
I shouldn’t have stayed as long as I did;
I should have left after the first lie.
Her hands cover her face.
Her stomach drops to her toes.
Her mind screams, but her mouth stays quiet.
Her parents witnessed all the arguments, all the screams, all the lies, all the tears in her eyes.
She cries with these thoughts.
Alone in her room.
Her thoughts wander.
Once again her mouth is open but nothing comes out.
The only question is:
What does she do?
