she's barely there
fading, fleeting
a wobbling aura
surrounding a hull of a
body

i, who used to lie
between the sun-soaked daffodils,
the dewey hydrangeas,
the lush irises

i, the lady of the
tire swing,
the summer breezes,
watching fireworks
from the beach

they were crackling
starfields, blossoming downwards,
catching me in their
glittering petals, their
shimmering vines

she's crushing inward
her soul is a
singularity, she's
so compact, she's
so

embarrassed to
fill the space that
she was promised,
her existence feels
intrusive

i, the queen of
hot july pavement,
who could inhale
the world's essence
in a single breath

i, a goddess of
bounty, a woman of
want, alive and pumping
exuberant
hot blood

she, whose gaze
transcends the boundaries of time,
looks back, she
wonders, she
studies me with a regretful glass

at what point
did we meet, did
we collide?
we did my audacity
freeze?

when did my candle
go out?
when did my blossoms
shrivel and
die?

she watches me, with a
cold, silent scream
"good luck, sun princess," she says,
"the future
ice queen."
