Shade of Brown
She swept up
Crumbs, missing puzzle pieces, shards
Of fragile memories
She stared at the brown ripped-wallpaper-walls
Where dust outlines of no-longer-there pictures frames gathered for nothing
She came face to face with
The floor
As her confused legs moved on
Without her
The brown of her eyes was a painter's shade too bright
Compared to the cracked wooden planks
Yet once she arose
And lied in the shadows
Her irises conformed to the
Shade of brown
