Goodbye Illinois

I opened a door today
one I thought I locked away
It swung it’s heavy arms open
Gusts of warmth greeting my skin
Reminding me of what was exchanged
Keeping composure as I turned
Tracing my steps back to where I came
I couldn't do this
not today
Smiling as Illinois hummed away
I might miss you some day.
