Favorite Quote:
&quot;I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it&#039;s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life&#039;s realities.&quot;<br /> -Dr.Seuss

As crowded as New York,
bright as LA.
Chicago is a Wonderland-
That's what I say.

Bustling, bumbling,
sometimes even burning.
Busy, busy Chi-town
is a place worth yearning.

Always cheering, always yelling-
That would be our city.
She's a young girl,
ever smiling, every pretty.

HONK!
A car swerves by and you curse
You dare call us rude?
Like you haven't seen worse.

My town is just the BEST!
There's no use denying.
You say it's a hyperbole-
I say you're lying.

The author's comments:
My wonderful, amazing, ten-out-of-ten LA teacher (not that she'd be reading this, of course) assigned our class to do a poem using all the figures of speech- simile, metaphor, alliteration, personification, hyperbole and onomatopoiea. See if you can find all of them in a poem about my town, Chi-town!
