Fearful
My biggest fear is not
heights, or
death, or
spiders, or
clowns, or
burglars, or
anything in between.
My biggest fear is
myself.
Because in the end I’m
the one who looks down
and panics.
I’m the one who thinks
about funerals and eternal
darkness.
I am the one who shrieks
at the little black bugs.
I am the one who hides
when the face-painted
men wobble by.
I am the one who locks
my doors ands turns
on the lights when I’m
home alone.
My biggest fear is not
heights, or
death, or
spiders, or
clowns, or
burglars, or
anything in between.
My biggest fear
is fear itself.
