I cut my hair
Because that's what marks a transition,
A new identity

But amateurs have no place
Holding scissors
And I left scars on my scalp that will never
Heal

I decided a beauty parlor
Will only mold me into what they think
Is beautiful
And not what is
Right

But I had a picture of beauty
And it was
From a Kodak camera instead of a Canon,
Flawed

If you develop my negatives and expose me
As I really am,
I'll still be backwards

But then at least my scars will look like
Battle wounds
Instead of the self harm they
Really are.

First dentistry was painless.
Then bicycles were chainless,
Carriages were horseless,
And many laws enforceless.

Next cookery was fireless,

Cigars were nicotineless,
And coffee caffeineless.

The putting green was weedless,
The college boy was hatless,
The proper diet fatless.

New motor roads are dustless,
The latest steel is rustless,
Our tennis courts are sodless,
Our new religion — godless.

O.o.....that was deep Jade, really deep
