How Old Are You Now?
The disheveled shelves are
filled with meaningless cards that are
covered with glitter and pathetic words to
convey any emotion.
Envelopes of different sizes and bright colors are
shoved into any open spot, but none seem to fit.
And yet, here I stand,
with tears at the brink of spilling over
my sore eyelids and bloodshot eyes.
Searching for the perfect
happy last birthday.
