"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe the happiest girls are the prettiest girls. And I believe that tomorrow is another day."

When it’s time my mother yells “Lights out!”
And that makes me want to pout-
I haven’t finished the chapter so far
And the plot is making my heart beat like a racecar!
So when the lights go out, my book light goes on
Even though I’ve been stifling yawns
I begin to read and end up in a sweat,
The chapter can’t be over yet!
The most exciting thing has happened now
So I keep on reading and wipe my brow.
My eyes are slowly trying to close
And my body is telling me that it wants to doze-
But my brain tells me I can’t stop now
And my eyes keep reading, chugging along like a plow.
A few chapters pass, three, or maybe four
It’s late but I want to read some more.
My hands are tired of holding the book
But the story is enticing, wants me to take another look,
So I heave a big sigh
And pray I’ll finish the book before I die, and read on and on.
With bleary eyes, I look up, having finished the book.
It’s really very late now, I shut the book, it’s final bow.
I heave myself onto the bed, my limbs crashing down like they were made of lead.

The author's comments:
I always used to read after the famous "Lights out!" and this poem is a representation of what happens. Note: This poem is old. It is from fifth grade and now I'm older. So, yes I'm open to constructive criticism, but please know that this isn't my current work and it certainly isn't my best work.
