A Spring Morning MAG
In early morning the sun breaks,
Glistening off the grass's dew,
Shining softly on all it wakes,
Plants and creatures old and new.
Flowers climb out of their dirt beds,
Where they slept softly in the earth,
Purples, and pinks, yellows, and reds,
From winter graves they bloom in birth.
Bare branches begin blooming buds,
Decorating the naked trees,
Birds building their nests come in floods,
Their melodies play in the breeze.
Swiftly flowing creeks weave
through fields,
Water brisk like the new spring air,
Bringing life to the path it yields,
Washing Earth's floor with careful care.
Caterpillars break their cocoons,
Awaking into a new life,
Fluttering under sun and moon,
Flying about without a strife.
Everything in sight starts to wake,
The plants and animals emerge,
With each new breath the world takes,
Paths of winter and spring converge.
But the Earth has a fresh new rug,
Teeming with life of every kind,
Happy fevers spread like a drug,
Infecting the soul, heart, and mind.
No foot has yet graced these pure paths,
Nor broken the delicate peace,
Soon it will be cleansed with a bath,
Of rains and feet that never cease.
And when the first footprint is left,
By the traveler who's alone,
They look around and see they're blessed,
Simple joy from nature is known.
